The surcharges for hospitals and hospital-owned outpatient health care facilities are determined by the Superintendent, based upon a risk assessment of the hospital or outpatient care facility, and its exposures. The rates are based on a number of common exposure bases, such as number of beds, visits and surgeries. The current rating plan and associated charges for each unit of exposure can be found in the latest New Mexico PCF Actuarial Analysis Report.
Please note that nursing homes are not eligible to participate in the Patient’s Compensation Fund.
The passage of NM House Bill 75 requires the OSI to obtain certain data from the hospitals and outpatient health care facilities wishing to participate in the PCF, for use in setting surcharges.
